Krypton gets its name from the Krypton gas inside the bulb. Unlike the argon gas in incandescent bulbs, Krypton gas allows the bulb filaments to run at a higher temperature at a lower wattage and emit a whiter light. These bulbs are usually sized and shaped for chandeliers and automotive use, last longer than incandescents and are more energy efficient. Like some of the newer CFL's, Krypton bulbs are dimmable for an added eco-friendly bonus for a bulb that is only slightly more expensive than an incandescent.
